This space, is a space I know well. I remember years ago (2009?10?) meeting at Lara Ferroni's house with Clare Barboza and Rina Jordan discussing the exciting possibilities of starting up a daylight studio - how that would look, who could pursue it, who wanted to help build it. It was exciting and daunting - I knew I could help build it, but I wasn't in a position to be a partner, not then. So, I helped where I could - I built some of those saw horses that you see above, I put on a second coat of blue steel paint on the cupboard molding in the kitchen. I wanted to be a part of it, however small.
Over the years, I rented the space. I shot my first 4 cookbooks here. Like I said earlier, I know it well.
It wasn't until this year that I finally felt it was time to find a space to call my own. Over the past year I had been working out of my home studio, the Treehouse, which was convenient to say the least. There were charms about it, but there were also issues (spacial issues, exhaustive/always cleaning issues, defining work from living space issues - that was a biggie).
So I'm incredibly pleased to announce that Clare Barboza and I have formed a studio partnership in the lovely Spare Room studio. Not only did we just merge two amazing prop/linen/surface collections together, but we are making plans - plans to grow and make the experience at the Spare Room the best it can be. With this introduction tour of images, know that this is just the beginning...I can't wait to show you more as we build it up further.
